About GEMCO - Company History

GEMCO was founded in 1946 by Mr. Goodloe E. Moore and is the oldest insulation fastener manufacturing company in the United States. The company takes the name GEMCO from the Goodloe E. Moore CO. GEMCO was founded in Danville, Illinois, USA where it is still located today.

In 1979 the company was sold to Mr. Robert Rew who immediately recognized that if GEMCO was to survive it must manufacture a complete line of insulation fasteners at competitive prices. Mr. Rew made the proper investments in people, machinery, and training. The result of these investments is that GEMCO is now the leader in the insulation fastener industry. Since 1979 GEMCO has grown from a 5,000 sq. ft. building to a 56,000 sq. ft. plant.
